Day at the Races
On a trip through bluegrass country I stopped in at Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Oaks. Held the day before the more notable Derby, this full day of horse racing culminated with the fillies trotting out onto the track to race for the garland of lilies.
The crowd mills about the paddock area between races, the track’s signature twin spires stand overhead.
Behind the paddock gates.
The tunnel to the infield.
View from the infield.
The track is barely visible from inside the infield.
Making bets.
Hatted ladies standing on losing tickets.
A good day at the track.
